Civil Protection officers worked to assist a driver who was involved in a bad accident on the Mriehel bypass, Sunday morning.

The accident occurred at 11.15 am. The driver of a Mitsubishi Evolution lost control of the car, which crashed into a tree.

The 43-year-old man from St Julian's suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mater dei Hospital.

Magistrate Noel Bartolo launched a magisterial inquiry and investigations are ongoing.
