A PL government will take back the Covid-19 wage supplement handed out to businesses, said Opposition Leader Bernard Grech, while addressing a political rally in Siġġiewi on Monday.

He said that Prime Minister Robert Abela will continue to rob taxpayers’ money, as they have already robbed citizens through their taxes and water and electricity bills, he said.

“How can businesses trust the PL, when Finance Minister Clyde Caruana called them fascists and communists?” Grech said.

“Today he will send you the cheques, and after the election he will come back to collect the money again,” he said.

Grech once again said that the recent debates where he faced off with Abela, “proved exactly why he has refused a debate for his two years in government,” he said. Grech added that all Abela has done during the electoral campaign was attack the PN’s proposals.

He said that after three weeks, the PL’s electoral program has finally arrived, which he referred to as a “cover version manifesto, full of buzzwords.” The Nationalist party is committed to restoring the country’s reputation and creating 10 new economic sectors, Grech said.

With regards to Malta’s current traffic problem, Grech said that the trackless tram will be a costed and advanced project which will be completed in five years.

“The trackless tram proposal is an efficient, effective and punctual service which will address the traffic problem, whilst the metro the PL is proposing, will take 20 years to complete, where the traffic problem will worsen,” Grech said, adding that the PL is itself not convinced the metro project is viable.

The PN is also proposing that Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) to be given to all type one diabetic patients so that they can have a better quality of life, Grech said. He said that Abela has ignored the pleas of diabetics for these services to be free of charge.

Grech said that youths are an integral part of society, where the PN will continue to help first time buyers to buy their own property. Other proposals which incentivize youth include a handout of €500 voucher for youths to travel abroad for cultural, sports and art purposes.

He continued to say that the PN will carry out a huge investment of €1 billion to create 10 new economic sectors
