Active Covid-19 cases jump up by more than 100, one more death

The number of active Covid-19 cases jumped up by more than 100 on Monday, figures released by the health authorities show.

One more death was registered, that of an 89-year-old man, which takes the tally to 615.

Only 38 persons recovered from the virus, while the number of new cases was 143.

This takes the number of active cases up to 1,413, double the number we had 10 days ago.

In all, 1,249,640 vaccination doses were administered, of which 346,666 were booster doses.

The number of people in hospital rose to 49, with three in intensive care.

Malta has had 72,884 cases of the virus, 70,485 of those have recovered.
