Veteran actress Karmen Azzopardi passed away today, aged 88.

Azzopardi took part in several plays in theatres and was also well-known for her participation in television series.

She worked for the Malta Drama League, Gioventu Cattolica, MADC and Maleth.

She worked closely with dramatist Francis Ebejer

In 2002, she received the Gieh ir-Repubblika Award for her contribution to culture.
