Covid-19: Back over 200 - daily, active cases sharply on the rise again

Covid-19 numbers are rising sharply again.

Health authorities today reported 229 new cases, while the number of active cases has jumped up again, to 1,693.

The last time the number of cases was more than 200 was on 4 February.

One woman, an 83-year-old, became the latest victim for the tally to rise to 618.

Only 82 people recovered.

There are 51 patients with Covid-19 in hospital, one of whom is in intensive care.

In all, 1,250,797 vaccination doses have been administered, of which 347,315 were booster jabs.

Malta has had 73,307 cases of the virus, 70,645 of those have recovered.
