Covid-19: Another 301 new cases, two more deaths, active cases above 2,000 again

The number of new Covid-19 cases registered today is again above 300, as active cases also continue to rise sharply.

Health authorities reported today that there were 301 new cases, while recoveries totalled just 87.

This pushed the number of active cases above 2,000 again - 2,073.

The last time we had more than 2,000 active cases was on 9 February.

Two women, aged 78 and 90, became the latest victims, taking the tally to 621.

There are 46 people with Covid-19 in hospital, one of whom in intensive care.

The health authorities said 1,251,633 vaccination doses have been administered, with 347,808 of them booster jabs.

Malta has had 73,912 cases of the virus, 70,847 of those have recovered
