Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry have all praised Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo for his continuous efforts to ensure stability and lasting peace in Libya, the Mediterranean region, Africa and the world, a Foreign Ministry statement said.

Greek Minister Dendias saying "that even larger countries do not have Ministers of Evarist Bartolo’s level," the statement said.

The Foreign Ministers were reacting to a note sent by Malta’s Foreign Minister informing them that general elections will take place in Malta on 26 March. Minister Bartolo thanked them for working hand in hand with him for the good of their respective people, the Mediterranean, Europe, Africa and the world.

In these difficult times where the war in Ukraine is fracturing our world order we need to work harder for peace, stability and cooperation. We must work hard to rebuild a security system where the security of all is guaranteed together with sovereignty, national independence and the equality of nations. I do not know if the people will elect me to parliament as they have done for the last 30 years,’ Minister Bartolo remarked.

Turkish Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu replied Malta should be proud to have Evarist Bartolo as its foreign Minister.‘Malta is lucky to have a Foreign Minister like you. You always raised your country’s voice strongly on important matters,’  Minister Çavuşoğlu told Minister Bartolo.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias told Minister Bartolo he was sure the Maltese electorate will vote to elect him.

‘There are not many availabilities at your level even in much bigger countries,’ Minister Dendias told Minister Bartolo pledging to continue working together in the coming months.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed his appreciation for Minister Bartolo’s international role in these challenging times.

‘We can only try harder to move forward on the basis of principles well founded in our cultures and faiths. I wish you and Malta prosperity and peace and security and a successful election process. I wish you my best wishes and good luck.’ Minister Sameh told Minister Bartolo.
