822 new Covid-19 cases reported as another patient dies

822 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Wednesday as another pandemic patient has died.

The last time Malta reported over 800 cases of the virus in a single day was on 3 January.

It means that 650 people have now died while positive for Covid-19.

365 people have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases is up to 8,029 - the highest since 20 January.

3,730 swab tests were administered in the past 24 hours, meaning that the positivity rate stands at 22%.

Details about the deaths or about the number of people receiving treatment in hospitals were not provided, and have not been provided since the Ministry for Health stopped issuing its daily bulletin on social media.

1,258,344 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far. 351,527 of those are booster doses.

Malta has had 83,667 cases of the virus so far. 74,592 of those have recovered, while 650 have died.
