Two men were arrested shortly after allegedly robbing a greengrocer in Ħal Kirkop, in Triq l-Ewwel Titjira 1915.

The men, a 34-year-old from Zurrieq and a 46-year-old resident in Santa Venera were armed with a knife and fled the scene by car with an amount of cash. Police arrested the duo and also found seven sachets of what is suspected to be heroin in their possession.

District police, the Rapid Intervention Unit and the Major Crimes Unit were informed and started with investigations and searches for the people immediately.

The men were spotted in the Peugeot 108 car by officers of the Major Crimes Unit in Qormi.

The two men are suspected of committing a series of robberies in recent days in Qormi and Ħamrun.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
