A man was arrested and a second is being sought by the police after a robbery was committed in Paola on Saturday afternoon, the police said.

A woman told officers that she had been the victim of a robbery in Ghajn Dwieli at around 12.45pm.

The police from the Rapid Intervention Unit located one of the men, who fit the description given by the woman, a few minutes later.

The man tried to escape but the officers caught up with him, and he was arrested. A search on his person led the officers to find items that had been stolen, including documents belonging to the woman.

He was taken to Paola police station for further questioning.

The police are searching for the second man involved in the robbery.
