Covid numbers go unpublished by health authorities

Sunday, 17 April 2022, 16:37 Last update: about 3 years ago

Malta’s Covid-19 numbers were not published at all by Maltese health authorities on Sunday – not even on the public health department’s open source database.

While the daily update is usually published at around 12:30pm, as at 4:30pm on Sunday no such data had been published.

The Health Ministry has, since the day after the 2022 general election at the end of March, stopped publishing daily bulletins on social media which show details about the pandemic in Malta.

Data was still being published by the Health Ministry’s COVID-19 Public Health Response Team on an open source database on the platform GitHub, although certain details such as the number of positive Covid-19 cases in hospital and the details about people who had died are not included in the dataset.

However come Sunday afternoon, not even this data had been published – at least until Sunday afternoon.

As per the most recent Covid-19 update on Saturday, Malta had 7,746 active cases of the virus.
