Two motorcyclists were injured, one of them critically, in separate accidents on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, the police said.

An Italian man, aged 32 and resident in Sliema, lost control of the Piaggio bike he was riding in Mikiel Anton Vassalli Street, Msida, at 4am Sunday.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia is leading an inquiry.

At 8pm Saturday, a Pakistani man aged 47 and resident in Birkirkara, was riding a Kymco bike which was involved in a crash with a Toyota Hiace driven by a 23-year-old man of Gharghur.

The biker suffered grievous injuries and was taken to hospital.
