The beatification of Carlo Acutis in Assisi two years ago caught the attention of the world; it is not common to have a young adolescent dying from leukaemia to attract such a great amount of attention in such a short life-span. His love for Jesus was apparent in all that he did. So much so that in his 2019 Apostolic exhortation Christus vivit Pope Francis presents him to the world as a role model for the youth of our time.
He was a computer guru with special devotion for the mystery of the Eucharist about which inspired him to create a virtual exhibition about the various sites of Eucharistic miracles around the world.
In our country, devotion for Carlo Acutis also found fertile ground especially after his relic was brought to a chapel dedicated to him in the convent of the Franciscan Minors in Rabat. It was taken around into other churches attracting hundreds of new devotees.
Now the Maltese Franciscan Province took the initiative through its publishing house TAU to publish an attractive book about him in the Maltese language. The book is translated from the original Italian of Maria Tereza Antognazza by Francesco Pio Attard, featuring illustrations by Bruno Dolif, and is addressed to children. It could be an ideal gift to children who are about to receive their First Holy Communion or their Confirmation.
It can be bought for the price of €8.50 from Franciscan convents and main bookshops in Malta and Gozo. For more information one may contact Fra Lorrie Zerafa ofm on [email protected].
