Hospice Malta launched their fundraising telethon, Bl-Imħabba Naslu, to be held on, Sunday 26 June between noon and midnight on all local television stations.  The funds raised will help Hospice continue to provide its holistic palliative care services, free of charge, to thousands of patients and their families as well as completing the final stages to open the new St Michael Hospice -  Malta's first palliative care complex.

The press conference was held in the presence of Mrs Miriam Vella, Hospice Malta Patron, at the Presidential Palace at San Anton on Tuesday 3 May.

Hospice Malta Chairperson, Bernadette Bonnici Kind thanked Mrs Miriam Vella on behalf of the entire Hospice team and the families it supports. "For the past 33 years, Hospice Malta has been supporting patients suffering from life-limiting conditions by providing holistic palliative care. The purpose for the new palliative care complex, the St. Michael Hospice, will allow us to expand our services within the community even more, as well as introduce new in-patient services. This can only be achieved with the support of our generous benefactors. Our appeal today is to ask you to continue supporting us as we get closer to finalising this project."

Hospice Malta CEO, Kenneth Delia, reiterated this by saying, "It has been quite the challenge to come to this, but the much-awaited St. Michael Hospice is now nearing completion and we need a final push to ensure that we open our doors in the not-so-distant future! This state-of-the art complex will impact the lives of many as we will be able to broaden our reach continuing to provide a comprehensive service focusing on the physical health, as well as the psychosocial and spiritual issues of patients and their families going through this difficult journey. Our appeal today is to ask for the support from the public and business community to help Hospice in this regard."

Hospice Malta CRO, Andrew Zammit, said that throughout the 12-hour broadcast, several interviews with Hospice patients and their relatives will be aired. He thanked them for their participation and contribution by sharing their stories and in raising awareness, despite what they are going through and in doing so are supporting other families who are affected by a life-limiting illness. Various local personalities and artists will also be supporting Hospice throughout the telethon broadcast, which will be held at Studio 7 in Birkirkara.

During her speech, Mrs Miriam Vella, the First Lady of Malta and Patron of Hospice Malta thanked the Hospice Malta Management & staff for their continuous work and support which they provide to the hundreds of families every year. Mrs Vella said that the lives of many is impacted directly with the support which the Hospice provides and which they will continue to do so through their new facility, the St.Michael Hospice. She therefore, appealed to the public to be generous and support the Hospice Fund Raising event being held on 26 June 2022.
