The St Thomas Tower in Marsascala is being restored and will be turned into a museum of piracy.

The restoration project, being led by the Malta Tourism Authority, costs close to €3.2 million, which is co-financed by EU funds. St Thomas Tower is the largest watchtower in Malta.

Tourism minister Clayton Bartolo and Parliamentary Secretary for EU Funds Chris Bonett visited the site.

Bartolo spoke about the vision for the tourism sector for the coming ten years, "which includes continuous work for the country to continue offering attractions and cultural opportunities across the country."
