A new gender wellbeing clinic will open in the coming months, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Chris Fearne said in parliament on Wednesday.
Answering a parliamentary question on the health services and gender confirmation, Fearne said that there are preparations for a new gender clinic to open centrally on the island, in Marsa.
This is to provide better access for services as the current clinic is in Mtarfa, he said.
Fearne said that there are also preparations for Malta to bring in gender reassignment surgery, which he said is a procedure which needs to be adequately planned, with the appropriately trained persons to perform the surgeries.
He said that the new clinic will be larger, as well as provide more gender services, aside from counselling and medical treatments.
