Two traffic accidents in Żabbar, one hour apart and three people taken to hospital

A man and two women were taken to hospital after two traffic accidents took place Saturday evening.

At around 6.30pm, the first accident occurred on Triq Villabate, Żabbar.

The investigation revealed that a collision occurred between a DAF bowser, driven by a 49-year-old man, and a Land Rover Discovery, driven by a 31-year-old woman. Both are Żabbar residents.

In the Land Rover, there was also a 27-year-old man who resides in Żabbar.

Members of the Civil Protection and a medical team were called to the scene to assist, and an ambulance took the two people who were in the Land Rover to Mater Dei Hospital. The woman was grievously injured, the man suffered serious injuries.

The bowser driver was taken for treatment at a Health Centre.

A magisterial inquiry is being held.

Meanwhile, in the second accident, a 29-year-old German woman who resides in Tarxien was hit by a vehicle at around 7.30pm on Triq San Anard, Żabbar.

Initial investigations revealed that the woman was hit by a Honda Fit driven by a 59-year-old woman Mosta resident.

The victim was assisted by a medical team, taken to hospital and certified as grievously injured.

Police are investigating the case.
