If you have new info on double murder, report it, John Rizzo tells Yorgen Fenech lawyer

Former police commissioner John Rizzo has denied that he was in possession of information on a double murder that took place in Malta. In a Facebook comment, he also challenged Anna Mallia, one of the lawyers appearing for Yorgen Fenech, to divulge any information she might have about the case to the police.

Mallia had initially commented that the police “are doing more harm to the Labour government than good.”

One person was quick to reply that Labour had removed Rizzo from the post and replaced him with a series of puppets.

Mallia then said that Rizzo had information about a double murder but no one had been arraigned.

She then agreed with another comment by someone who said that the police, the government, the Attorney General and the Opposition had “taken care” of those involved so that no one would go to court.

Rizzo then replied, telling Mallia that no one had been arraigned because the police did not have enough evidence on the case. He told Mallia that, if she has any new information that was not known to the police back then, she should disclose it with the current police commissioner.

If she does not have such information, then it is better to stay quiet than try to look good, he said. “As you well know, there were five other commissioners after me, and they all shared my reasoning, otherwise they would have arraigned someone.”

It is unclear whether Mallia was referring to the infamous 2012 New Year’s Day murder that claimed the lives of Duncan Zammit and Nicolas Gera.
