PN files motion in Parliament to revoke legal notice regarding music in Valletta

The Nationalist Party has filed a motion in Parliament in order to revoke the legal notice for Valletta, which allows music to be played till 1 a.m in some streets.

The PN argued that the legal notices issued by the government on 6 and 13 June go against the rights of Valletta residents, the business community and the characteristics of the capital city.

"Throughout the process of the legal notice, the residents, stakeholders, local council, district MPs and the opposition were not consulted. The Minister simply decided and went through with the decision to change the regulations."

The PN calls for a legal notice which respects the people involved and also keeps within the characteristics of Valletta. "Residents are at the mercy of the government and are left with music blasting outside their homes till the early hours of the morning."

"The Nationalist Party is and always will be in favour of regenerating the capital city, but not at the cost of the residents and the city itself. It was a PN led government that invested millions in improving the quality of Valletta and its residents in order to attract tourism of a certain quality."
