A motorcyclist was grievously injured on Monday evening when he lost control of the bike he was riding and fell, the police said.

The accident happened in Mqabba at 8pm.

The biker, a 39-year-old from Birkirkara fell off the Honda bike which careened into an oncoming car, a Ford Fiesta, which was being driven by a 30-year-old man from Zurrieq.

The biker was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
