Getting to know Vince Fabri

Vince Fabri is remembered mostly for his songs for the highly popular and revolutionary Ahna Ahna jew m’ahniex television series of the late 1980s, and for his later participation for many years in the TV programme Xarabank.

Vince, who is now a Valletta local councillor, tells us that he likes seafood, would like to have a meal with Jesus and Buddha (and two others), and has no real interest in sport, although he does support one team.

 

What was the last book you read? 

Awareness by Anthony de Mello, an Indian Jesuit priest and psychotherapist. A book I read for the first time many years ago, and every now and then I like to revisit at least a few of its chapters.

Who is your favourite author?

A very difficult question, because I had the privilege to collaborate with local writers like Oliver Friggieri, Trevor Zahra, Francis Ebejer, Joe Friggieri and many others.

What was the last film you watched?

West Side Story, the remake by Spielberg

Which film have you seen multiple times and enjoyed every time you saw it?

Carmen Story, a 1983 film directed by Carlos Saura

Who is your favourite actor/actress?

Robin Williams

What is your favourite TV series?

I never saw one complete TV series, since my childhood. 

What is your favourite game or sport to watch and play? Somehow I was never interested in any type of sport.

Which team do you support?

I only support the Valletta Football Club, and our National Team.

Which song would you sing at a karaoke night?

Celebration by Cool and the Gang.

Who is your favourite singer/band?

Queen

 

Which show/event would you like to attend/have attended?

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds    

What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?

A guitar, a tablet, and a solar charger for the tablet

What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?

Chinese cuisine, during a visit to China, which is so different from what we get from our local Chinese restaurants. 

What is that one thing you could not go a day without?

My morning shower

The mechanical assembly line for private vehicles

Their unconditional love and support for each other and for the rest of our extended family

 

What would you change about yourself if you could?

I would like to be a more outgoing person.

What really makes you angry?

Ignorance

I try to avoid all sort of competition.

What is your biggest regret?

That I never lived for a long period away from Malta

That I can share an interesting conversation

I will invest in a professional multi-media creative studio.

Jesus, Buddha, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci

If you could bring one person back from the dead who’d it be?

It will be my dear friend Joe Debono, known as James Bondin.

If you could time travel, when and where would you go?

I would visit Valletta back when Grand Master De Vilhena ruled our Islands.

If you could relive one moment in your life, which would it be?

I would relive the small family party organised by my parents at home, to celebrate my first Holy Communion. 

If you could live anywhere outside Malta, where would it be?

London. 

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sea food salad
