Police have arrested a man in connection with cannabis-related findings in a Gozitan field.

Police said on Sunday that its anti-drugs squad had spent days keep an eye on a field in the limits of Xewkija following a tip-off that the field was being used to cultivate cannabis.

It was on Sunday itself that the Police entered the field and found around 55 cannabis plants of all sizes, along with seeds and other things related to the processing of drugs for it to then be trafficked.

A 30-year-old man who lives in Xewkija was arrested on site.

Investigations continued at the residence of the man in Xewkija, where more things related to the processing of drugs were found.

Duty magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.
