Two charged with armed robberies in Marsalforn, granted bail

Two men have been charged with carrying out two armed robberies in Marsalforn two days ago.

Police said that the men – a 42-year-old Libyan who lives in Munxar and a 26-year-old Maltese who lives in Ghajnsielem – were arrested following intensive investigations by Gozo District polce.

They were arrested in connection with two violent armed robberies which took place in Marsalforn on 10 July this year.

They were charged before duty magistrate Simone Grech in the Gozitan Courts on Tuesday.

They have been charged with stealing money, causing light injuries, and carrying of a pointed instrument without the necessary licence, amongst others.

The accused pleaded not guilty and were granted bail under a number of conditions.

Inspector Bernard Charles Spiteri led the prosecution.
