SLIEMA FRANK SALT....... 19

EXILES............................. 5

(5-1), (2-2), (5-1), (7-1)

After two consecutive defeats against San Ġiljan in the knock-out and league respectively, Sliema Frank Salt returned to winning ways defeating their local rivals Exiles. Sliema’s win was never in doubt as they grasped control of the game, leaving Exiles still searching for their first point in the Premier Division.

Ironically Exiles took the lead at the beginning of the match with a goal from Max Aquilina. Sliema reacted and deservedly opened a 5-1 gap till the end of the first session. John Brownrigg had equalised followed by a brace each from Dino Zammit and Matthew Mifsud.

Sliema were in control of the game and in the second session, they even found the net twice. Jamie Gambin scored with a brilliant personal action from the centre while captain Mark Meli tapped home from few metres away. Exiles pulled two goals back for a 7-3 scoreline.

An astonishing comeback might have been on the cards by Exiles but Sliema quickly resolved the matter scoring three consecutive goals. Despite David Fenech’s goal from rebound, Dino Zammit’s fifth goal of the game and a well planned action concluded successfully by Zach Mizzi gave Sliema a commanding 12-4 lead.

Although the win was in the bag for Sliema, Beto Fernandez’s side continued to widen the margin. Sliema scored no less than seven times as youngster Matthew Mifsud scored three times alone.
