SAN ĠILJAN JP PROJECTS...... 8

SIRENS MECCA MARINE........ 6

(0-2), (3-3), (3-1), (2-0)

A surprise was on the cards for a huge chunk of the game but in the end San Ġiljan JP Projects came out victorious. It wasn’t their best performance, mainly due to the stern opposition by Sirens Mecca Marine.

San Ġiljan spent the majority of the game behind Sirens. They only went in front in the last session but when they did, they managed to keep their noses ahead. Sirens on the other hand, must feel disappointed as they gave a headache to their opponent but still finished empty handed.

Jerome Zerafa Gregory and Matthew Sciberras gave Sirens a double lead in the first session, a sign of how the encounter was going to develop. San Ġiljan tried to react in the second session but on three occasions, Sirens responded every time to keep their two-goal advantage. The goal of the game was scored in this session by captain Matthew Zammit as he fired past Thomas Micallef with a splendid backhand.

Sirens weren’t sharp as they were at the change of ends and permitted San Ġiljan to be more dangerous in attack. Ben Plumpton reduced the margin and Peter Borg equalised from his usual position in the centre. Ken Erdogan lobbed over Jake Tanti at the end of his team’s possession but right at the last second of the third session, Andreas Galea managed to shoot the ball past Micallef for a 6-6 draw.

This was the first time that San Ġiljan had equalised. Sirens could have regained their lead but from a possible counter-attack, the ball didn’t arrive to Erdogan. From the subsequent action, Plumpton put San Ġiljan in the lead for the first time. Sirens still had time to salvage the game but didn’t test Tanti enough. Youngster Jake Bonavia assured Zeljko Kovacic’s team the win in one of their last actions of the game for a precious win.

NEPTUNES VIDEOSLOTS..... 19

BIRŻEBBUĠA FREEPORT...... 3

(6-0), (5-1), (4-1), (4-1)

Another superb performance paved the way for the seventh consecutive win for Neptunes Videoslots in the Premier Division. The champions left Birżebbuġa Freeport helpless as they couldn’t find a formula to stop them.

Neptunes showed their intentions from the first minute, scoring one goal after the other to set their agenda. Youngster Jake Muscat scored a hat-trick alone alongside goals from Michael Spiteri Staines, Stevie Camilleri and Sam Gialanze for a 6-0 lead.

Their lead continued to stretch in the second session as Birżebbuġa only found the net after the ninth goal of their opponents. At that time, the game was already set in stone.

Despite their comfortable lead, Neptunes didn’t want to relax and kept dominating. Stevie Camilleri stood out in the third session, scoring a hat-trick including an exceptional solo goal. The last session became a formality but Neptunes kept on going till the final whistle. They again scored four times, this time from Stevie Camilleri, Jeremy Abela and a brace by Sam Gialanze to round off an easy game.
