An elderly woman was seriously injured on Wednesday morning while going for a swim at Bahar ic-Caghaq.

The police said the woman, aged 83, from San Giljan, slipped as she was entering the water and hit against the rocks.

She was given first assistance before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital with serious injuries.

The accident happened at around 10am.
