Just over 27% of Nationalist Party councillors have voted at the end of the second early session of voting for the election of the party’s deputy leader.
On Saturday, 10.5% had voted. This moved up to 27.1% in the second round of early voting held on Monday.
The election day is Saturday, when the rest of the councillors are asked to vote to elect Alex Perici Calascione as the deputy leader.
He is the only contender for the vote, and needs 50% plus vote to take over.
The poll is open from 8am to 1pm in Gozo, and from 8am to 4pm in Malta. The results are expected by 6pm.
