Bolt Food couriers to strike Friday over poor working conditions

Thursday, 28 July 2022, 18:42 Last update: about 3 years ago

Couriers who work with Bolt Food will strike on Friday as a stand-off develops between them and the company over poor earnings and working conditions.

Around 300 couriers work for the company, and the action is expected to be taken by most of these workers.

A spokesperson for Bolt confirmed that the strike is taking place while speaking to the Times of Malta and said that “new steps” will be discussed with the couriers.

"We are working towards optimising the pricing and that should have a positive impact on courier earnings within the next few days. Our goal is to provide high-quality service to our customers and best-earning opportunities to our couriers," the spokesperson told the newspaper.

It is believed that the action stems from discontent over a drop in how much money the couriers were making for carrying out deliveries when compared with the last few months.

Bolt, which is based in Estonia, began operating in Malta in 2017 as a taxi service before then expanding into food delivery.
