27 people arrested for living in Malta illegally, set for deportation

27 people have been arrested for living in Malta illegally and are set to be deported, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.

The police said that its Immigration squad and the Marsa Community Police team carried out a number of inspections across Marsa, with the bulk of the work being centred around Triq is-Serkin, Triq il-Gerrejja, and Triq it-Tigrija.

During these inspections, police arrested 27 people of various nationalities who were living in Malta illegally.

The police said that these individuals were taken to its General Headquarters in Floriana, where the process for them to be deported has begun.

The police was also assisted by officials from the detention services.
