Police arrest two men over Hamrun brawl, 11 others identified

Two men have been arrested in connection with the brawl in Hamrun that occurred on Thursday, while 11 other people involved were identified, the police said.

The fight occurred on Triq il-Kbira San Ġużepp on Thursday. The police said that police investigations led to the identification and arrest of two Syrians who allegedly injured two people during the argument.

One of the Syrians, a 30-year-old who resides in Morsa, grievously injured a 37-year-old Syrian with a blow to the head using piece of wood.

He was charged in court on Saturday.

The other Syrian arrested is 35 and resides in Marsa. He is expected to be arraigned on Sunday, accused of slightly injuring a 23-year-old Syrian with a sharp and pointed object.

11 other people involved in the argument were identified, and are expected to be arraigned later through citation and accused with breaching the peace and not obeying legitimate police orders.
