Another heavy defeat for Malta in the FINA european waterpolo championships being held in Split.

After the initial defeat against hosts Croatia, Malta suffered another drubbing against Greece who are considered as one of the best teams in the tournament.

As the score shows there was no comparison between the two sides with the Greeks making their intentions clear from the start and practically killing all interest in the game in the first quarter.

Against such a superior outfit Malta tried to limit and control the game, something which they did against Croatia in the first two sessions.

However against Greece it was a different story with Greece building an eleven-goal advantage by the half time.

Stylianos Argyropoulos was the top marksman in the game with seven goals, and Matthew Zammit scored half of Malta’s tally.

Karl Izzo’s side will again be in action Friday for yet another difficult test against France to finish its group B committments.
