The government is allowing a private foreign company to make profits off the backs of the people from a contract riddled with corruption, said the PN in a statement.

The fact that Steward Healthcare Malta made a pre-tax profit of €6 million means that they should have fulfilled their contractual obligations.

“This is money that the Government would have invested in the health sector. This is money that the Government is wasting at the expense of the Maltese and Gozitan people,” the PN said.

The PN said that he Government is continuing to waste and burn the “people's money on a corrupt agreement” made with Vitals Global Healthcare, which later was transferred to Steward Healthcare Malta.

In its statement the PN pointed out that this money should have been used much better, “particularly in these difficult circumstances.”

It concluded by saying that the Government should stop this contract immediately and take back the management of San Luqa hospital, Karen Grech hospital and the only General hospital in Gozo.

The statement was signed by PN spokesperson for Transport, Mobility and Capital projects Adrian Delia, together with spokesperson for finance Jerome Caruana Cilia.
