A man was seriously injured in a car fire in Valletta on Saturday morning.

The police said that it was informed that a car was ablaze in the Marsamxett area.

A 41-year-old man from Ta’ Xbiex was found lying on the ground near the car when officers turned up at around 9.15am.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Members of the Civil Protection Department and the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit of the AFM were on site,

Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace is leading an inquiry.
