With this, the PN wants to bring forward the issue that society has to be built on the principles of right. “We have to celebrate our differences as that is what makes our society Maltese.”

PN Secretary General Michael Piccinino said that the activities will be held throughout September reaching their pinnacle on the eve of Independence Day where all stakeholders in society would be invited to remember the events of 58 years ago.

“The Nationalist Party has to recognise the past, analyse the present and propose for the future. That is why we are including everyone in this year's festivities."

The activities will begin on 16-17 September with a meetings between the PN and activists.

Two discussions will be held on 18 and 19 September at PN clubs in Naxxar and Siġġiewi.

The 'commemorative activity' at the Independence monument will be held on September 20, the eve of Independence Day. No mass meeting will be held, a tradition that characterised the PN Independence activities until the advent of Covid-19.

The programme also includes sports activities, such as a 5km run/walk and shooting activity on Wednesday, September 21, and a political activity in Gozo on Sunday, September 25.
