The government and the Nationalist Party have paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who died today.

In a statement, the government said that in her 70 years of reign, the queen gained the admiration of many, including in Malta, a country with which she had deep connections as she resided her for a time and visited on several occasions.

She will be remembered for her sense of duty by which she fulfilled all her roles.

She also gave a great contribution to the Commonwealth which, under her leadership, evolved into a dynamic organisation that promotes democracy, diversity and unity among peoples.

The government sent its condolences to the Royal family and the UK people.

The PN also paid tribute to the queen who, for a tie, was also Malta’s head of state.

Queen Elizabeth had great links with Malta, which was the only country where she lived outside the UK. She is also the head of the Commonwealth, of which Malta is a member.

The PN also sent its condolences to the people of the UK.
