Inclusion minister launches nominations for Fair Society Award 2022

The government will be rewarding the dedication and commitment of people, voluntary organizations and workplaces that had an active role in further strengthening inclusion in the sector of disability, Inclusion Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said..

She was launching nominations for Through the Fair Society Award 2022, which will be given in December during the week dedicated to disability.

 She explained how this recognition goes beyond just a trophy.

"This recognition is a demonstration of the government's appreciation towards those people, voluntary organisations and workplaces that have managed to make a big and positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities.”

She added that in a special way, this award gives recognition to individuals with disabilities who are an inspiration to others and a reward for voluntary organizations that work tirelessly throughout the year and launch various initiatives related to this sector in order to increase inclusion.

Portelli said that the principle that will guide the choices for this award will be that of having a fairer society, where people with disabilities take an active part in the community.

Jacob Cachia, who is the winner of the Fair Society Award 2021, said that through the achievements made, nowadays he is not only living in a more inclusive society but despite his disability is contributing back to the same society.

A total of seven prizes will be awarded. These are:

Fair Society Award;

Lifetime Achievement Award in the Disability Sector;

Award for Work in Strengthening the Rights of Persons with Disabilities;

Active Participation in Sports Award;

Active Participation in Arts and Culture Award;

Award for the most inclusive workplace;

Award to the Voluntary Association for Work to Strengthen Inclusion.

The Evaluation Board for the Just Society Award 2022 will be accepting nominations for this award. The form can be obtained online at https://inclusion.gov.mt/ or from the Ministry, 89, Palazzo Francesco, Triq Sir Ugo Mifsud, Lija. Applications close on Friday, 7 October 2022 at noon. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.

 

The awards evening will take place on Friday, 9 December 2022, under the Patronage of the President of Malta George Vella.
