A Syrian man who lives in Malta was charged in court tonight on accusations of human trafficking after he allegedly coordinated the arrival of a group of illegal immigrants in Malta.
The police said that the case in question was the arrival of a group of migrants to Malta between 13 and 14 September this year, with the migrants arriving on Maltese shores at Delimara Bay.
The police added that after it was called to the site, its investigations focused on who could have coordinated the migrants’ arrival.
As a result of its investigations, a 50-year-old Syrian man who lives in Malta was charged with human trafficking for allegedly coordinating the episode.
He was charged in court this evening before Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit.
The police said that investigations are still ongoing and that the charging of other individuals in connection with the case should not be excluded.
