Innovation and Infrastructure

Saturday, 24 September 2022, 13:56 Last update: about 3 years ago

In many developing nations, there is still a severe lack of basic infrastructure (roads, electrical networks, sanitation, water supply, etc.). Around 2.6 billion people live in areas without full-time access to power, 2.5 billion live in areas without basic sanitation, 800 million live in areas without access to clean water, and more than 1.1 billion live in areas without a dependable telephone service.

Access to healthcare, education, markets, jobs, information, and training is hampered by inadequate infrastructure. As a result, there are fewer job prospects and a barrier to starting business, which prolongs poverty. Infrastructure aids in the industrialization of a nation's processes and the creation of higher paying jobs. Every one job created in manufacturing creates 22 jobs in other sectors.

What can you do?

1.      Encourage/promote more use of renewable energy

2.      Write to your politicians to increase aid and trade with developing world

3.      Donate to charities
