Approximately 3 billion tonnes of food are lost or wasted year while a further 1 billion people go hungry and almost 1 billion are undernourished.
Over 1 billion people lack simple access to fresh water, and just 0.5% of the world's total fresh water is available for human consumption.
In spite of this, human activity pollutes water supplies more quickly than nature can recycle and clean the water in rivers and lakes.
As a result, the situation worsens every year and will eventually lead to wars over water resources.
In order to be responsible with our consumption and production you can:
1. Buy smaller quantities to avoid wasting food and support recycling charities
2. Use reusable water bottles to avoid billions of plastic bottles polluting the oceans
3. Use re usable bags when shopping instead of plastic bag
