Three youths were grievously injured in a traffic accident at 2.45am on Sunday morning in Luqa, the police said.

The accident occurred on Triq l-Ewwel Titjira and involved a Kia Rio, driven by a 30-year-old man from Zabbar, and a Toyota Corsa, driven by an 18-year-old from Luqa. As a consequence of the accident, the Toyota toppled over and the other car ended up on the grass on the side of the road. A 17-year-old girl from Birgu and a 19-year-old man from Mqabba were also in the Toyota.

The three youths were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
