Franco Gatti, a member of the Italian singing group Ricchi e poveri, has died, Italian media report.

He was 80 years old.

Gatti had left the group in 2013 after the death of his son Alessio in 2013.

The last time he appeared on TV was in June when, together with his wife Stefania, he had been interviewed about the death of his son.

In 2020, he had participated as a guest at the Sanremo Festival when the Ricchi e Poveri group had reunited after many years.

He had joined the Ricchi e Poveri in 1968.
