The Agriculture Ministry is consulting experts with the aim of controlling the Oriental Hornet's Population, Minister for Agriculture Anton Refalo said in reply to a question made in Parliament by PN MP Jerome Caruana Cilia.

In his reply, the minister elaborated that he is aware of the problem and that he is following the situation.

He said that "we are in active discussions" with experts who said that the whole Mediterranean, from Greece to Morocco has and is experiencing an increase in wasp populations.

He said that in the coming months the ministry will be issuing measures "to curb the impact of these insects", with special focus on how it is affecting the agricultural sector.
