Sirens and Zebbug Rangers shared six goals yesterday to earn a point in a spectacular 3-3 draw, a result that leaves both sides hovering just above the relegation zone.

Zebbug had a commanding first half with striker Lokoli Ngoy scoring a hat-trick and the newly promoted side looked set to obtain the second victory this season.

But Sirens, still in search of their first victory this season, had othert ideas and staged a good comeback in the second half to snatch a point and join Valletta on the five-point mark.

The start immediately showed what was to come in this exciting match that kicked-off the eighth day of the Premier League.

On eight minutes Zebbug took the lead when Lokoli Ngoy went through past a defender and his central, which did not seem irresistible, completely deceived goalkeeper Cassar with the ball finishing at the back of the net.

Zebbug’s joy was however shortlived as sixty seconds later Sirens were back on level terms when Sean Cipriott fired home with a first timer from the edge of the area.

On seventeen minutes Zebbug were back in front, and again Lokoli Ngoy was on the mark when his deflected shot again beat Cassar.

Sirens suffered this setback as Zebbug pushed for more goals and went close again on 26 minutes when Soto’s drive went inches wide.

On the half hour a good opportunity for Sirens to obtain the equaliser with a Rei Tachikawa header well saved by goalkeeper Azzopardi.

On 38 minutes Charles Lokoli Ngoy acquired his hat trick anticipating Cassar to give Zebbug a two-goal cushion.

Sirens were a determined lot on the resumption and five minutes from the re-start they were back in the game when Rei Tachikawa had a good run in the Zebbug area and his cros shot was deflected by Wilker Santos who committed an own goal in an attampt to block Tcahikawa’s effort.

Sirens were now all over the place and on the hour Sirens missed a sitter when Tachikawa created havoc in the Rangers’ defence but failed to score from an ideal position.

On 67 minutes Sirens drew level when the Zebbug defence was caught napping and Vyktor headed home from close range.

After this draw both sides seemed to settle for the point earned and there were no more open scoring chances with the draw result being a fair one as no team deserved to leave the field of play empty handed.
