The university student who graduated while battling a terminal illness has died, the University of Malta said on its Facebook page.

“Our deepest condolences go to the family and friends of Miguel Borg, who has sadly passed away earlier this morning following a terminal medical condition affecting his health,” the University wrote..

“Miguel has recently been visited at his residence by UM Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella and other academics, in a private graduation ceremony whereby Borg was handed his Bachelor's degree certificate in Mechanical Engineering.”

His sister Anne Marie Callus also announced her brother’s death, saying that the funeral will be held on Saturday.

A special graduation ceremony had been held at the private residence of the graduand, who successfully completed his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
