A 22-year-old man was hospitalised after suffering injuries in a traffic accident in Gudja on Saturday night.

Police said that they were informed of the accident at around 10:30pm in Triq Hal Tarxien in Gudja.

Preliminary investigations showed that the 22-year-old, who is from Zejtun, was driving a BMW 320D and was involved in a crash with a Toyota Yaris being driven by a 25-year-old Italian who lives in Marsascala.

The BMW driver was given medical assistance on site and taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police said that their investigations are ongoing.
