Cacopardo fails to obtain quota to be elected to St Julian’s local council

ADPD leader Carmel Cacopardo did not obtain the necessary votes to be elected to the St Julian’s local council.

The seat was vacated by mayor Albert Buttigieg, who was elected to Parliament.

The Green party leader only got 30 votes from those who had voted for Buttigieg. He needed to reach the quota of 196 to get elected.

Cacopardo was the only contestant for the post.

The candidate who submitted his nomination for this casual election held today Monday, 14th November 2022was not elected as he did not reach the necessary quota. The Electoral Commission said.

The PN will now seek to replace Buttigieg via a co-option.
