A crowd of people met in Floriana and marched to Valletta to protest against femicide, demanding justice for women who were murdered.

The protestors met outside the police headquarters in Floriana on Friday evening, and walked towards the capital city in solidarity with families of women who were killed.

The protest was held three days after the murder of Bernice Cassar, a mother of two, who was shot dead as she was driving to her office. Her husband Roderick Cassar has been charged with the murder.

He is the first to be charged under the new concept of femicide introduced into the Maltese legal system earlier this year.

The protest was attended by members of Bernice's family, President Emeritus Marie Louise Colerio Preca, independent candidate Arnold Cassola and AnneMarie Grech, the wife of Opposition leader Bernard Grech.
