The Nationalist Party’s members on the Public Accounts Committee want police commissioner Angelo Gafa to testify on the Electrogas deal.
The PN members – Darren Carabott (chairman), David Agius and Graham Bencini – have written to the police chief to ask questions on what the police are doing after the Auditor General’s report on the matter.
The PN has asked whether the police are investigating the contracts signed by Enemalta with Electrogas, if politicians or politically exposed persons have been questioned during the course of the investigation, and if anyone of them chose not to reply to the police questions so as not to incriminate themselves.
The PN also asked whether the commissioner is disposed to appear before the PAC to answer questions about this.
Last July, the PN’s members on the committee had expressed their intent to summon Gafa before the PAC, but Labour’s majority in the committee had disagreed, voting against.
