Friday, 9 December 2022, 14:37 Last update: about 2 years ago

The Planning Authority (PA), in close collaboration with Transport Malta (TM), ave over the past two nights removed 20 illegal billboards from a number of major roads around Malta.

The operation included not only the removal of billboards that had no development permission but also those that had failed to honour their obligation to renew their annual license with TM, the PA said in a statement.

The Authority started its operation along two major distribution roads which included Triq Aldo Moro, Triq Guiseppe Garibaldi and Triq Diċembru Tlettax in Marsa. Officers from the PA’s compliance & enforcement directorate coordinated the operation with the assistance of officers from the Enforcement Unit of Transport Malta.

The operation was carried out during the late evening so as to cause the least disruption and inconvenience to motorists.

Further action will be taken over the coming days. The operation was carried out to make certain more safety along our road infrastructure and guarantee a fair playing field for advertising operators. The removal of these billboards is being carried out at the expense of the respective offenders.
