Monica started working in the theatre at a young age. She attended MTADA under the direction of Adrian Rendle and has played main parts in various productions both in English and in Maltese.
Shakespeare plays have always been her favourite having played main parts in Anthony and Cleopatra, Much ado about nothing and Taming of the Shrew. She also had main parts in Broken glass and All my sons by Arthur Miller and in Brighton Beach memoirs and Broadway Bound by Neil Simon.
Plays in Maltese include Gahan ta Bingemma by Francis Ebejer, Ihirsa, and not too long ago she took part in Il-Kappilan ta' Malta and Faith Hope and Charity. Monica has recently taken part in the production Six dance lessons in six weeks which was held at Palazzo Parisio.
Monica worked for a number of years on television and radio and was also involved in plays on television.

The reader by Bernhard Schlink. Really enjoyed it. Saw the film too!

Phantom of the Opera. I saw it live on stage multiple times too

So many good ones these days. My favourite is Meryl Streep...she's so versatile

The first part of Borgen which I watched some time ago

I watch football and tennis on TV

Oh dear I don't think I'd dare do a karaoke but if I did...Hallelujah, perhaps.

Which show/event would you like to attend/have attended?
I would like to attend The Oscars. Although, on a much smaller scale of course, i did attend the Film Awards in Malta some years ago with foreign films and actors present here. Guest star was Helen Mirren.....and it was exciting!

A good book, my mobile and a good provision of chocolates

What's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?
I'm very careful about what I eat but I was invited for dinner at an Italian friend of mine once. After the meal she asked me if I knew what I had just eaten. I replied it was very good meat. She said "that was ox tongue"!!! Yuck!!!!... but I must admit the way she cooked it was delicious!!

Teaching. It was in the family really. Most of my cousins and uncles are/were teachers and my father was a headmaster.

I have many happy childhood memories. I belonged to the Girl Guide Association so we regularly went hiking and camping. I loved it. ......sleeping under the night sky!

I tried but was not very successful unfortunately.

Not toys but books where you learnt through play.....I wish I had kept some of those to show my grandchildren.

I'm ashamed to say this......but I never looked forward to my Maltese lesson mainly because it wasn't taught so well in my time, at least in my school, so I found it so boring.
Was there some family tradition that was never missed?
Oh yes our town feast. We always had a special meal usually timpana followed by a roast after seeing the band march by our house and throwing confetti.

Growing up united and practicing activities as a family
What would you change about yourself if you could?
As I grow older I am becoming less patient even on the road. I wish I could become calmer.

Having both my kids settled abroad.

Adrian my partner...he deserves it. Roy Atkinson ......he makes me laugh. Pope Francis......whom I admire greatly and Agatha Christie whose books I read ad infinitum when I was young.

I'd definitely go back to the past...Jane Austen period.
If you could relive one moment in your life, which would it be?
This would be my 70th birthday when both my children came from abroad and organized a fantastic weekend celebration for me.

Most European countries have so many problems at the moment. My son speaks very positively of Australia so I'll choose this country.
